How much does a logo really cost in 2024?

By Andrzej Kowalczyk, Lead Designer·May 10, 2024·6 min read

Most business owners in Poland start looking for a logo by typing "cheap logo" into a search engine. They quickly find offers for 150-200 zł and wonder why others charge 3000 zł or more for the same thing. We get straight to the point: in this text, we break down costs into prime factors, without beating around the bush.

The 200 zloty logo trap

If you order a logo for 199 zł on a popular classifieds portal, you need to know how it works behind the scenes. A graphic designer who takes such an amount must complete the project in a maximum of 45-60 minutes to make rent. In that time, there is no way they're checking your competition from Bydgoszcz or Toruń. There is no talk of drawing original shapes. Most often you get a ready-made image from a free stock bank to which someone has added your company name in a popular font. We get straight to the point, so let's say it directly: 143 other companies in Poland have that same logo.

The problem arises when you want to print this logo on a sign or wrap a car with it. It often turns out that the file has low resolution and you can see pixels the size of peas on it. In 2023, we corrected 34 such projects for local entrepreneurs who first wanted to save and then had to pay a second time. The cost of the correction was on average 850 zł net, which is much more than if they had ordered a solid project from a professional in the first place.

Does it work? It works, but only on a phone screen. When it comes to registering the mark in the Patent Office, a 200 zł logo almost always fails. Officials reject applications because the graphic is too similar to existing marks. Last year, one of our clients lost a 440 zł filing fee because an internet designer copied a symbol from a photo bank. Zero fluff – a cheap logo is often just a borrowed image that generates legal problems.

143 other companies in Poland have that same logo. That's not a brand; it's an internet sticker.

At this price, proven freelancers and smaller studios like Vistula Brand Factory work. What do you get for this money in 2024? Above all, time. We spend an average of 22-28 working hours on a proper logo. We start by analyzing 12 direct competitors in your region. We check what colors they use so your company doesn't blend in with the crowd. This is concrete work that makes the customer see the difference immediately when they pass your banner on Gdańska Street in Bydgoszcz.

In this budget, you receive a set of files for every application. Not just one JPG image, but a full set of formats: vectors (SVG, EPS, PDF) that you can enlarge to building size, and versions with a transparent background. Additionally, you get simple instructions on what colors to use on the website and what in print. This is important because blue on a monitor often looks like purple on a flyer if no one has set it up professionally beforehand.

Since September 2016, we have prepared over 438 such sets for construction companies, medical clinics, and shops. The average implementation time for us is 14 business days. We don't promise miracles in 24 hours because a good strategy needs to sit. We must check if the mark is readable when we shrink it to 15 millimeters on a pen. If it isn't – we go back to the sketchbook and refine it until it's perfect.

Why do agencies want 5000 zł and more?

For projects above 5000 zł, you aren't paying only for the mark itself. You are paying for an entire visual system. Large companies that employ 40-60 people cannot afford chaos. They need a brand manual that is 50 pages long and describes every detail: from what the email signature should look like to the design of employee clothing. At Vistula Brand Factory, we carry out such orders for clients who already have an established position and want to organize their image before entering new markets.

In such a process, not only a designer but also a strategist participates. We analyze the psychology of colors for a specific target group – you design differently for people aged 60+ than for young parents. In 2024, the difference in the effectiveness of a well-chosen color can increase brand recognition by 74%. These are hard data, not guessing. If your company generates a turnover of 2-3 million zlotys a year, such an investment pays off instantly through greater customer trust.

The high price also stems from the guarantee of uniqueness. We then conduct a full patent clearance search. Our team spends about 10 hours just searching databases of registered marks in Poland and Europe. The point is so that after two years of activity, you don't get a letter from another company's lawyer demanding the removal of the logo. Straight talk: you pay for peace of mind and the certainty that your brand is legally secure.

What must you receive in the price of the project?

Regardless of whether you pay 1000 zł or 4000 zł, you must demand specifics. Every project must include the transfer of economic copyrights in writing. Without this document, according to Polish law, the graphic designer is still the owner of your logo. This is a critical point that 67% of small companies forget. At Vistula Brand Factory, you get such a contract as standard for every order, without additional requests.

Demand a vector version. This is the magic file that allows for printing the logo on a huge billboard without loss of quality. If the designer says that 'vectors are for an extra charge', then run. It's as if a mechanic wanted extra pay for tightening the wheels on a car. PDF, EPS, or SVG files are the market standard in 2024. Additionally, you should get an achromatic (black and white) version, which will be useful for stamps or laser engraving.

Check the response time. A professional replies on average within 2h 14min and answers questions concretely. If you wait 4 days for a quote, think how long you will wait for the finished project. With us, the first contact usually occurs in 47 minutes. We respect your time because we know that running a company is a constant race. Zero fluff – we either do it properly or not at all.

Without a rights transfer agreement, the graphic designer is the owner of your logo. Remember that.

How to calculate if a logo pays off?

Look at it this way: if a logo for 2500 zł serves you for 7 years, it costs you 29 zł per month. That's less than a phone subscription. A good logo builds trust from the first second. According to our statistics from Q2 2023, companies with professional visual identification can count on an average of 22% higher margins because the customer subconsciously evaluates them as more solid and more expensive.

Investing in image is not an expense; it's securing the future. In Bydgoszcz, we have dozens of examples of companies that, after changing their logo to something concrete and readable, suddenly started attracting larger customers. Example: a local transport company after rebranding in March 2024 increased the number of inquiries by 37% in just 3 months. People simply started treating them like a national player, rather than a small carrier with one van.

In summary: in 2024 you cannot afford a cheap logo. The market is too tight to waste the chance for a good first impression. Choose an option that gives you full rights, professional files, and a unique design. If you have questions, write to us. We will answer concretely and without fluff. Does it work? It works.
